At end of may I am due to meet with NAACE basically to discuss how edugeek.net and naace can work with each other.

 

As some of you may know naace is currently going through transformation and trying not only to work out where ict in education in 2012 (think that is the right date) will be but how naace will play a role in it and along with that it is working out how it can improve it services to members.

 

This is where edugeek.net comes in what can we do together a to improve member services for technical staff who are members of nacce (and also at same time this means more technical staff will wont to be part of naace as there is stuff on offer for them) and also how naace can help edugeek.net.

 

Ideas on simple level page on NAACE website to ‘promote’ EduGeek activities and same on EduGeek.net website a page for NAACE to promote activities.

On the point of conferences and workshops it may be useful to techies to know from NAACE how ICT is being used across schools and what is expected in the future.

 

I know that a lot of edugeek'ers have a good idea already but I think that there are also a lot that don't for whatever reason ie: management keep them out of relevant discussions or don't know themselves, or misunderstand the concepts and principles.

 

It may help some people have a better understanding of the big picture and therefore a better understanding of what the requirements for hardware and support will be.

 

Going the other way edugeek could provide local knowledge to NAACE with regards to problems within individual areas or schools which hinder the gaining of NAACE accreditation or at least a level of ICT competance.

Last time I looked into NAACE, I could not see a lot of advantage of gaining NAACE accreditation. Admittedly, this was about 2 years ago now.

 

Anyway, maybe it would be worth getting a list of advantages (and disadvantages?) so that people can decide whether it is worthwhile.

The accreditation as it was (NAACEMark) has now moved on to ICTMark ... the Self-Review Framework is run via the Becta Matrices, and there has been input into it from most of the major players; Becta, NAACE (and consquently ACITT), QCA, SSAT, NCSL and DfES.

 

It is now worth looking at in a larger way.

 

NAACE as an organisation has been changing recently from what was viewed as the organisation for the LEA advisors to an independant group consisting of all sections of those that have an input into ICT used in education.

I think to degree this is what NAACE is going through as it has been an org for lea people and now needs to be na org for everybody.

 

But to remember naace is more than just ict mark also it an org that comes up with best practice and research is there areas that would like to see them expand into or research...

Cheers guys... this is the more the sort of thing we need to know. Before, it was more of a mark than anything useful - something to pad out the whitespace on your letterhead!

So they haven't actually said whether they are male or female... You can never make these assumptions nowadays
