Setup Redirecting Desktop

Right, just a quick question about desktop redirection, I have thought about doing it here for staff so they don't have thousands of random icons on their desktops. Is it a good idea? and how do any of you redirect the desktops for staff members from one dept. that may be covering a lesson for another dept. How would they access the program icons on the desktop?

 

Any advice would be great.

We redirect staff's personal desktops to a a folder in their home directory, via a kix login script.

The personal desktop items are merged with items in c:\documents and Settings\all users\desktop, which are machine specific which might help with the application icons?

All staff get the same desktop (and start menu) here so that they have a consistent user experience - ease of use . There's also less to go wrong!

Same here - use Group Policy Redirection to give different users different start menus/desktops (Staff/Students). We have also just started dividing down again between groups of Staff Users (Library/Finance/General etc) so that they are more appropriate.
