randle Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Bit worrying this one and haven't been able to find anything about how to fix this from a google but all DCOM objects on my DC's are missing. Seems that this is the case since my 2003 server upgrade back in August. I don't think they're gone as nothing would work but do not appear in the window when the DCOM configuration node is selected. Could be cosmetic i suppose but was wondering whether anyone has any idea as to why this may have happened and how to fix it!!?
Michael Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Is the DCOM Server Process Launcher service running?
Michael Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 So if you click Start > Run > DCOMCNFG.EXE and press enter, what happens?
randle Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 This brings up the Component Services window but as mentioned in my initial post the Component Services>Computers>My Computer> DCOM Config window contains no objects
randle Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 Just realized i hadn't updated this thread but this was down to permissions in the the registry!! Not sure where unfortunately as was a while ago now and for some reason I didn't document it but is a point in the right direction for anyone who ends up here with the same problem
ArjunA Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Hey Randle, where did you exactly find the flaw in the Registry Settings?? Me and you are the only people on the internet who have had this problem, i could really use your help! Basically I took away permissions for the Microsoft Word Application object in the Component Services under administrative tools.. As soon as i took these permissions away, a chain reaction occurred and 90% of my DCOM objects disappeared! I'm freaking out at the moment as I've never been more lost as to what to do. Please help me out! Contact me directly through /[email protected]/, or share on the forum for everyone to see. Thanks in advance! Sincerely Arjun
randle Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 Hi ArjunA. The only notes I can find on this are: Removed the CLSIDs that were prefixed by xxx_ in the CLSID section of the registry on each server. After removing this DCOM components have reappeared. I can't say this rings a bell so have no other advice than above I'm afraid. Worth a check even if it may be a laborious task!!
ArjunA Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Awesome, thanks that's definitely a step forward in the right direction ... Am I looking for "xxx_" or is x just a variable here? For example should I remove CLSIDs that have 123_ as a prefix?
randle Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 (edited) Hmmm not all that sure. I'd imagine this is a variable. Make a backup of the registry first then try removing anything with a prefix as suggested I reckon. Can't mess DCOM up any more than it already is by the sounds of it Edited May 31, 2012 by randle
erhanzeyrek Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Hello. I registered for answer the problem. Today i am encountered same problem. In dcomconfig i Delete all permissions Of the My dcom Object and puf! Most Of all components are Gone. After hours of googling i Found à way how to fix İt. I set the components permissions Manual from the registry. First you should go to the your app's GUID from registry. The path is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Classes/AppID/yor app's CLSID. Right click CLSID and click permissions, click Advanced Button, and gide Full permission to the Administratior account. Then bingo! All Of your missed components from dcom config are Restored!
