A Second Quick Launch Toolbar?

Hi All,

Anyone know of a way to add a Second Quick launch toolbar to xp?

I use the quick launch a lot and have way too many icons on it! I could do with another!

I can add a toolbar but not a nother quicklaunch.

No, AFAIK there isn't. But if there's that many icons on it anyway, it's not really a quick launch any more, is it?

I can find on google people who have 2 quick launchs, but have no idea how they got it and they want rid. So it is possable somehow, but its gotta be some duplicate reg key somewhere causing it.

I use a nifty little (Free) thing for that purpose called ShR toolbar.

Its easy, just right click on the start menu->Toolbars->New Toolbar

Create a folder for it somewhere in your profile and drop the shortcuts in. Once there right click the new toolbar and uncheck title and text and you should have a second one. Quicklaunch is only a preset folder with shortcuts nothing special.

I'd say it'd be better to use an app like launchy

 

you invoke it with a ctrl-spacebar, and just start typing the app name, it suggests what you want.

 

you can also start searches, calc and other things straight from it.

 

its really low-impact on your system too

I make a folder called shortcuts.

 

then like ZeroHour says, right-click on the taskbar... > Toolbars > New Toolbar... then navigate to the shortcuts folder you created.

 

Then i size the bar all the way to the right so i just see 'Shortcuts >>' DONE!! a very tidy shortcuts folder.

 

I do this on ALL my PCs now, it's just an elegant solution. Its there when you re-start, and it's super neat and tidy, no other software needs to be installed or running.

 

I also use RocketDock and with the shortcuts folder i hardly ever use the startbar now.
