Lan View 3 - Error 241 CCoolSocket

Hi

Just wondering if anyone can help at all.

We have been using Lan View 3 for a while but when we try to connect to some machines it can come up with an error:

 

Error241 - CCoolSocket::Readbytes: Socket error while reading.

 

Has anyone had this before at all?

 

We are on a CC3 network running windows xp sp2 and we are only using this on the curriculum side of things.

the problem is very random, it is not any specific stations and can fluctuate with it working on a station then not. Wierd.

check the windows firewall, it plays havoc if it doesn't have it ports opened.

Thanks for a reply.

 

I have checked (as this lan view was set up here before i started) and windows firewall is disabled through the management console (running on a CC3 network) and there are also program and port exceptions already made in the console for tight vnc so as far as I can see the firewall shouldn't be the problem.

 

Any other ideas at all?

Is it always the same machines that come up with the error?

 

Have you checked that you are using the same version of tightvnc on all machines?

No it's not always the same machines and it can be very random, where i can view a machine at some point in the day and then later it comes up with the socket error?

Should all be the same version as it was made into a MSI and rolled out to all workstations through the management console.

I have also checked the package log of the machines that have the error and the package has installed correctly.

So very random and very baffled, unfortunatley there is no reference to this on the MST site either.
