Lock server desktop seems to lock server access

I may be losing my mind here but there seems to be an instance where locking a desktop on a server locks out users from their drives and causes all sorts of slowdowns.

Am I missing something obvious here and does this same issue happen when remote accessing?

is there a service running as your user account rather than 'network service' or something?

That's a thought... could be I suppose...

I suspect it's just a coincidence that the desktop was locked and the people trying to use computers were hitting problems...

My main suspect(s) are synchronisation using up all the bandwidth on the LAN (resolved) and a secretary who pulled her keyboard out of the socket enough that it had intermitant faults...

I'll keep a weather eye I think and check the service side of things to be sure...

Thanks for the suggestions..
