Vista printer drivers

Has anybody noticed that adding a networked printer to a vista machine takes an age?

 

From entering the share name to finishing normally takes upto a minute, both manually and via GPO, which is a real pain in the proverbial when adding multiple printers at logon.

 

Adding the same printer to an XP machine takes at most 10 seconds.

 

It looks to me like vista priotitises it's own driver cache over the drivers supplied from the print server and takes ages scanning, just wondering if anybody else had noticed this and can give me some advice on speeding it up.
