I have an older VX3276-MHD monitor much loved by it's user, and the heat has finally gotten to it. A component on the main board went pop, The mainboard is part S03AKRT25AR1R and the component that blew in quite spectacular fashion is transistor Q10 to the right of the LCD ribbon. Would anyone happen to have one of these and also be able to get at the mainboard to tell me the value of said transistor please? Can't get a decent enough image on google searches to track the value
Ditto Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Have you tried using an AI Tool to see what you can find. I tried ChatGPT and Gemini and it got in to quite a bit of detail. I think I can see what component it is but nor an exact specification. It had a degree of confidence what it might be, but also raised concerns about the integrrity of the board given the explosive issue! Might be worth a try. 1

Thank you I think I may be getting too old for this game - have been happy using AI tentatively to help as a reminder for commands, but never thought of trying it with this. If anyone is interested, the reply from Gemini is below. From my own experience I believe it to be somewhat accurate. I had debrided all the explosive bits last night and added solder mask to further protect, and couldn't see evidence of any other layers of the PCB underneath, at least not in this area. Made the pads good for connection but didn't want to go guessing on the transistor, my initial thought was it was going to be the same as the H2A in Q6 and Q7 but they're very low current and would have certainly popped immediately. Still vaguely hopeful VS might come back to me with either schematics or a supplier of the board but I do rather like a challenge Based on the visual evidence of the board layout, the board model (Viewsonic S03AKRT25AR1R), and the main Realtek RTD2525AR scaler chip, component Q10 is the Panel VCC Power Switch. You are correct that it belongs to the transistor family; specifically, it is a P-Channel Enhancement Mode MOSFET in a SOT-23 package. Use your multimeter in continuity mode to check between the VCC power pins on the ribbon cable side and Ground. It is highly common for a tiny ceramic decoupling capacitor (MLCC) on the LCD matrix/T-CON board to short out to ground. Inspect the Ribbon Cable: Ensure the pins inside the ribbon connector (CN405) aren't bent, melted, or bridging together. Test Diode D4: The diode right next to Q10 (D4) is inside the immediate blast radius and handles suppression for that sub-circuit. Use the diode-test mode on your multimeter to ensure it hasn't failed shorted. Clean the Area: Use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and an old toothbrush to completely scrub away the black carbon conductive char from the board. Carbonized PCB material can act as a resistor and cause further short circuits. If the copper pads are lifted, you may need to scratch back the solder mask on the remaining trace and jump a small enameled wire to the source/drain connections. 1

I'd like to create a AI champion role at work, and be that person, because used appropriately there is a lot of value to be garnered - equally, used badly, you can waste quite a bit of time. When I researched I used Gemini and ChatGPT. ChatGPT built and image for me when I asked to visualise the components in question. Attached just because I can! Caveat! synaesthesia Posted July 1 Author Posted July 1 That's the thing - a bit like what we've tried to teach people for years about what they see on the internet, blindly copying and pasting things can certainly be dangerous and inaccurate so you need to be able to verify certain things - does it look like, is the source genuine and trustworthy etc. Other side of the dice though, any tom, dick or harry could put a lot of nonsense in a book or article and get it published to a point, and the librarian wouldn't know much about every single topic you might care to research!
