Jaay Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Hi all, After the return of the new school year, we had multiple reports of user's unable to insert Word documents into their OneNote sheets as a print out: Is this something Microsoft changed? None of our organisational settings were changed over the Christmas break. Any help/guidance is greatly appreciated, thank you.
DWilson1997 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 We've had the same, temporary workaround is to open the document you want to printout and send it to the OneNote Desktop (Protected) printer in order to insert it... 1

This is the workaround we have provided thank you DWilson, good to know it wasn't just us affected.. Couldn't find any documentation from MS to suggest they had mad changes either.

DWilson1997 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 The insert printout button is not working for us, but only if it is a .pptx file (.ppt does not work)
TechMonkey Posted February 2 Posted February 2 It looks like there are a mix of issues. We have seen some Word documents that haven't worked but they seem to be either .doc files or an older version of .docx that needs converting. One teacher found that PDFs work fine so has been exporting as that and then inserting. It does look like a badly rolled out implementation but also a mix of errors all coming under the same heading, so throwing off troubleshooting.

We had a look through Microsoft Purview and tested out creating an unencrypted label purely for OneNote - this way allows you to insert Word docs like before, users just have to select the correct label. 1

Is this being applied in OneNote or on the document they are trying to insert?
