Help Identifying Those Pesky 'Unknown' Devices

I have just visited a website and downloaded a utility which identifies unknown devices [in Computer Management] and thereby speeds up the process of creating a new image for a machine new to your network.

You can also goto the Property of that Unknown device under the Details Tab.

 

Look for PCI]VEn_14E4&Dev167B

 

The 14E4 is the vendor name of that HW

and 167B is the device ID.

 

So if I were to Google "14E4 167B"

 

You can see it shows up as a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet device.

Another useful ID tool is PCI32 - also free. It can give you just a basic listing of devices with the ID numbers or a verbose listing of everything it knows about the devices.
