Evening,

The school I worked for closed in the summer unfortunately.. I'd been there 20 years so got a decent payout and fell on my feet with a new job.. all good so far.

Got home tonight and I've got a bill from a collection agency about my Tesco school mobile for £270 :(

They had to do a credit check on a individual when you take out a business phone which I did then transferred it to th school after it had completed. I did hand the phone back and the number when it closed and this is the first I've heard of it. It does have the school name on the letter and my address. I presume they've never got a response from the

school so they have gone to me.

I'll contact the insolvency firm but am a bit worried I'm going to have to pay it.. don't want my credit rating getting messed up.

I would contact the LA/MAT/Trust that used to oversee the school and pass the issue on to them.  I bet the collections agency doesn't think you are the owner, as they will have seen the transfer, but your details were in the history so they will try and pressure you to pay.

I called them and they were very nice (as you'd expect) and they were surprised it was sent to me. They said they will go back to Tesco Mobile and inform them of the mistake.  If I don't hear anything then all is good.

They did use snail mail which is very slow near me so I'm not out of the woods yet.
