Google Education for Fundamentals - Changing primary domain

Hiya,

There is a school which has lost access to their original domain as it wasn't renewed in time. Someone else snapped it up which then meant the Google Education Workspace they had could no longer used the domain and changed to a really long one. This has been going on since April with a whole lot of stuff going on in-between but ultimately, we just need to know if we can use the new domain we have created and change this to the primary domain on the Google Workspace AND keep their original fundamental licences?

I am a 3rd party who has stepped in at the request of the Trust so I am just going off information that has been relayed to me by the MSP and Wavenet. I have been told by Wavenet (Google Partner) that Google said no to the domain change to them directly but I don't quite understand as gives me the option to do it in the tenancy?

What if schools go through a re-brand and want to change their primary domain due to the school joining a trust etc?

Any straight forward explanations & advice would be greatly appreciated at this point.

Thank you!😊

I've changed primary domains from sch.uk to a custom one. It was a hassle but possible. The messy part was the licenses as you need to remove Chromebook licenses and then re-add them again which involved contacting a special team. Google Support should be able to help you with this and yes this is possible.

Have you managed to add the new 3rd domain to the Workspace account?

From what I believe, my colleague has but it is a secondary domain right now...I'll need to check in with him to see if it is verified yet.

Oh man...I wish the initial team who were working on this just did that. Thank you for letting me know!
