davie887 Posted October 29, 2025 Posted October 29, 2025 Hi all, In the process of migrating away from SIMS and a huge pile of legacy systems that are barely touched these days. RMUnify is currently the identity provider and user provisioning agent for local AD, 365 and Google. The school uses a about 50/50 Windows/Chrome devices, which RMUnify syncs passwords for. I am really considering asking RM for the decommissioning script and going it alone. Anyone with experience of this have any thoughts on this? Obviously with SIMS gone, the OS is less important. I have seen you can use Entra as the identity provider for Gsuite, again, has anyone done this in a move away from RM? I don't really care about the old Google accounts, as we use MS for class Teams and as long as my users can be signed into their Microsoft account on the Chromebook, we're golden. Thanks
supportman Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 (edited) Cant say I have any experience but definitely move away from RMUnify. Its just another level of complexity from a different age. We use Bromcom single Sign on and salamandersoft to provision and disable users automatically. Edited November 3, 2025 by supportman
jthompson Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 Bromcom can do your Google Workspace and/or M365 user provisioning/deprovisioning, along with class groups, Classroom classes, calendars, etc. Not using it here as we wrote our own tool for managing local AD accounts based on Wonde, with Entra Connect and GCDS/GCPS. 1
davie887 Posted November 4, 2025 Author Posted November 4, 2025 Thanks guys. It is going well, we have out live system ready to go. I have lined up calls with Wonde etc. RM are in the process of doing something about defederating us, they must be well practiced at this by the sounds of it. Feels good to be out from under SIMS and it's limitations tbh! 1
