Simcfc73 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 Evening, I'm playing with intune kiosk mode but got a bit stuck. We've got a lighting pc which I've replaced and intuned and managed to get the software (magicQ) to work as an app. I'm hoping to use this for exams next month so I'm confident I can get the software working but... I want the lighting to auto sign on.. if I use the auto sign o it says the kioskuser0 account has a password error. Can see where it tells me to creat one. I made a local user and got that to auto sign on using the reg hack and assigned it in intune which is fine and the app starts but there's not icons (I didn't think I'd need to create a custom XML for it) and I need it to have access to my docs. It's a great system but a bit frustrating that changes take a while to propogate... I miss gpupdate Any guidance or tip sharing would be great.
Brummytech Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 HI For our Inventry systems we use Logonexpert to login, you can add icons/shortcuts to public desktop?
robyholmes Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 If you have the 'Preferred Domain Name' set that causes this issue.

Simcfc73 Posted October 17, 2025 Author Posted October 17, 2025 Actually scratch that. Can't get it to work. Shame.
mjhardisty Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 I've received "kioskuser0 account has a password error." in Intune when there is a policy that prevents the PC having a local user, or the password policies are interfering with the creation and password of the local user. At one of our sites I've built the kiosk manually and am remotely managing the PC using RMM.
Simcfc73 Posted October 31, 2025 Author Posted October 31, 2025 I'm going to have a play with the 'App Control for Business' setting in InTune to see if I can lock it down with that.
