Enough is enough, for years this have done this manually - and to be fair worked well when there was 2 of us doing this.

 

Take photos of each Year 12 student

Crop them face cropping software

Import CSV of students in Paxton

Manually imported each photo

Printed card

Manually encoded cards

 

Then encoding using another reader to save into Excel so they can be imported into Inventry.

 

Now it is just me and enough is enough!

 

I am after recommendations of a company that will supply, install and configure  some ID Software that will read/write data into Paxton and AD.

 

So ideally, this software will pull in existing Paxton users, any replacement badges can be printed and encoded in one click of a button.

 

I have a Magicard 600 printer with a builtin MiFare encoder (which only encodes via USB)

Have you talked with Salamander about their Net2 integration?

 

They pull names and photos in from Arbor for us, and then the card ID from AD (Which originally comes from Liveregister). Papercut also pulls the Card ID from AD as well I believe.

 

That way, the day after they go onto Arbor they are ready for printing from Net2, or we can manually trigger the Sync if needed sooner, or just manually add if its just one or 2 students.

Yeah +1 for SalamanderSoft it will integrate with your NET2 and save you a lot of time and effort.

How do you put card ID into AD?  Do you manually encode the cards to by some other method?

So we either enter via live register, or if we do a whole year group, then we scan the cards into a spreadsheet so we have a record. Live register has a bulk import option that can take them from a CSV file.

 

One of our USB card readers is configured to output a Carriage Return character so it moves onto the next cell/record automatically. While its still a manual process, it takes a lot of the mouse clicking out. The CSV import lets us time the change over if we are working term time - the cards can be pre-printed and scanned, then we just tip them in once lunch has happened.

 

I'm sure a short powershell script could do something similar with a CSV.

 

Automated would be lovely though if someone does know how.
