We are looking to appoint a Senior IT Technician to join our growing IT services team. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced and proactive individual to play a key part in delivering high-quality IT support across the school. This is full time role, working throughout the year (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday). 

 

About the role: 

  • Working with a wide range of IT systems and infrastructure 
  • Providing high-level support and taking ownership of key areas (e.g. servers, WiFi, Intune) 
  • Acting as a point of escalation for junior members of the team 
  • Reporting to the IT Network Manager 

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Deliver excellent IT support to staff, pupils and visitors 
  • Oversee and maintain key IT systems (servers, devices, networks, etc.) 
  • Support projects and upgrades to improve the school’s IT provision 
  • Monitor systems for issues and ensure quick resolution 
  • Help document and maintain the IT asset register 
  • Assist with IT support for school events and external visitors 
  • Provide mentorship and support to the IT technician and IT apprentice 
  • Step in for the IT Network Manager when needed to maintain continuity of service 

 

About you: 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in IT support (first/second line) 
  • Confident with infrastructure support and system administration 
  • Strong communication skills and calm under pressure 
  • Able to explain technical matters to non-technical users 
  • Organised, proactive and eager to learn new technologies 
  • Experience in education is an advantage, but not essential 

 

Desirable technical experience: 

  • Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V 
  • Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Intune 
  • Apple School Manager, Jamf School 
  • Networking: VLANs, IP addressing, wireless and switches 
  • Firewalls (e.g. Smoothwall), backup and cyber security tools 
  • Dell EMC, HPE networking, managed print systems 
  • Helpdesk systems (e.g. Halo ITSM)
