Does anyone know if they do cloud hosting and if so how it has worked out for you, saw a cloud portal come up in search salamandercloud.co.uk but looks like monitoring and control

Probably easier to ask Salamander directly, but if I understand correctly their new "cloud portal" product is a cloud-hosted portal to control your instance of Salamander's software installed on your server(s). So, you log on to a nice web-based service, accesible from any browser, rather than have to be on your local system or even on a specific server.

 

I suspect by "cloud hosting" you're maybe aiming to have the server that runs Salamnder hosted off-site, which should be perfectly do-able with a number of providers (AWS, Google, etc) - it's something we've looked at, as it would make for one less VM to be hosted on-site.

What @dhicks said is right.

 

The salamandercloud lets you do things like control salamander's remote config access, find user passwords (if you generate accounts through salamander) and kick off sync processes.

 

Its best to talk to Salamander if you have other requirements.
