IT Leadership Opportunity – Head of IT
Location: Wiltshire (on-site)
Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 (Competitive)
Contract: Permanent -  Full-time

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic IT professional to join a thriving independent school based in rural Wiltshire. This pivotal leadership role will see you drive the digital vision and ensure robust, secure, and forward-looking IT provision across all areas of school life.

 

About the Role

As Head of IT Services, you will take overall responsibility for shaping and delivering the school’s IT strategy, infrastructure, and service delivery. Sitting on the Senior Management Team, you will play a central role in supporting digital learning, managing cyber security and compliance, and introducing emerging technologies including AI.

You will lead a capable IT support team, foster innovation, ensure cyber safety, and maintain a stable and reliable IT environment for pupils, staff and parents alike.

This role is perfect for someone who combines strong technical understanding with a people-first mindset, and who thrives in a setting where education, innovation and values go hand in hand.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic IT roadmap in line with whole-school goals
• Oversee digital and cyber security, compliance and infrastructure management
• Lead on AI adoption, training and confidence-building in emerging technologies
• Manage the IT support service and ensure outstanding first-line technical support
• Line manage and develop a small, skilled IT team
• Oversee procurement, budgets, vendor relationships, and future-proofing of IT assets
• Support internal and parent-facing systems including BYOD, MIS, portals, and live streaming

 

Requirements

• Proven experience in a strategic IT leadership role within a complex environment
• Excellent understanding of infrastructure, networks, servers, and cyber security
• Strong leadership skills and experience managing technical teams
• The ability to build trust and explain complex technology to non-technical users
• Previous experience in the education sector or a similarly values-led environment is desirable
