Afternoon all,

We have had Paxton Net2 for nearly 13 years now and have 20+ ACU's, but we have just come across the news that we are going to have to replace 5+ units soon due to older panels not supporting new firmware (security reasons).

On top of that, the new Entry online app / portal looks good but incurs a monthly cost per app/user, which is brilliant... Not...

Been following the Unifi door entry range for a while now but was curious if anyone actually uses any of it within schools? Business wise it looks great but not so sure on the school front so interested to hear from anyone that might have it in action.

Would love to see it action. However, you'd pretty much be forced to install new cabling & new switching to get it past most business continuity cases, not something I'd want to see on the same physical infrastructure as everything else. Or am I being old fashioned?

I assume you can still use the legacy Net2 app and aren't being forced into the new subscription base with paxton?

Not being forced into the new app, it's optional, but a really basic nice function that, surprise, surprise, you have to pay for, which is free on Blink and all other platforms and Unifi it's baked in with the Cloud Key / Gateway.

As for future firmware updates / core software updates I am forced to upgrade the ACU's if I want to use the newer version of the core software otherwise I have to stick to the current latest version but don't know how that will play out when in 2 to 3 years when I need to buy another controller and it needs version Z of the software and I am stuck on version X due to older panels from 13 years ago.
