Windows Update Causing Fresh Install Behavior for Laptops

Hi all,

We've noticed that some of our laptops are behaving as if they've undergone a fresh install. This has happened a few times over the past couple of months.

The symptoms include:

• Desktop icons and files disappearing

• Downloads folder empty

• Needing to sign back into all applications

• Bookmarks missing in Google Chrome

It seems like a Windows update might be causing this, but we’re not entirely sure. Has anyone else experienced this or can shed any light on what might be going on?

Sounds more like the local profiles for the users have been deleted - have you got any software running or GPO settings set that are cleansing the profiles of previously logged on users?
