Smoothwall Cloud - Chromebook - blocking all search results if 1 result is blocked?

Hi guys we have a Smoothwall Cloud managed by our LEA though I have access to the group settings etc

 

In the past 2 or 3 weeks I have had issues where if 1 result is blocked in the Search results, it will block the whole search result page

e.g. if I searched for "minecraft internal ports"  and 1 of the results happens to be a Reddit result,  it will load the search results in Google but then half a second later, it brings up a block screen  showing the Reddit page itself - even though nobody clicked on the Reddit result.

As a lot of search results come back for either Reddit or other blocked pages (e.g. tiktok with a food recipe) it hampers a lot of student research.

 

Anyone else seen this?  for now I've had to unblock certain popular sites (I had them blocked under both URL blocking and in the actual category under social media, any one would trigger it)  and then block those URL's via chrome blocking

Update - seems to be a bug with the latest release, there is a workaround for Chrome

Actually a bug in Chrome (no longer differentiating fetch and prefetch). This also affects some ofther vendors - so if you are seeing this with any filtering extension, the same workaround applies

Does anyone know if Google Admin console can push this setting out to Chromebooks?... Sounds like the fix to a none existent WIFI problem...

Yeah, it can. Google have refused to admit this regression is a bug. We're going to work around it.
