Cast Desktop to a TV

Hi

 

I have a chromecast device plugged into my Sony TV

 

Just wondering how I can get a tower without wireless to transmit to it ?

 

Or is there an easier way ?

I've not used it for a while but can Chrome be used to cast the whole desktop to a Chromecast? You can certainly cast tabs from Chrome.

You can, but it depends on both devices being on the same WiFi network. Most Sony TVs have some kind of screen mirroring facility, so if you put them both on the same wired network that could be an option. Otherwise your cheapest option is likely to be a USB WiFi dongle and use chrome as suggested above.

I've used Chrome on a PC connected via ethernet to cast a tab to a Chromecast before. I can't think of any technical or commercial reason that it would only work using Wi-Fi.
