Hi

We are using an external platform and a case was raised by staff regarding incorrect data on the website.

Their technical support team have advised I need to add their urls to the 'clear cache on exit' part of edge, however i only need to do this for particular URLs and not ALL cache.

However, I am unable to find the Group policy option to clear cache but ONLY specific URLs. It looks like it only allows ALL cache to be removed on exit?

Please could someone let me know if adding specific sites is possible through GPO?

thanks

I can't find an option for that in the settings of Edge itself, let alone a GPO. I'd consider asking them to provide instructions or the exact setting to change in Edge.

Can't help with GPO settings, but this is what I found:

To delete specific sites when you close Microsoft Edge, you can clear your browsing data and choose what to clear each time you close the browser:

Open Microsoft Edge

Select the Menu (three dots) in the upper right corner

Select Settings

Select Privacy, search, and services

Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear every time you close the browser

Select the check box next to each data type you'd like to clear

Select Clear now

You can choose to delete: Browsing history, Cookies and other site data, and Cached images and files.

You can also delete site-specific cookies by:

Selecting Settings and more in the upper right side of the browser

Selecting Settings

Selecting Cookies and site permissions on the left side

Selecting Manage and delete cookies and site data

Entering a search term in the Search cookies field

Selecting Remove all shown under the search box

Generative AI is experimental.

Maybe I can... but I don't have Edge GPOs, so can't confirm:

The "Clear browsing data when Microsoft Edge closes" policy setting in the Local Group Policy Editor can be used to control what data is cleared when Microsoft Edge is closed. This policy can be applied to a profile or to all users on a computer.

To access the policy setting:

Open the Local Group Policy Editor

Navigate to Computer Configuration

Navigate to Administrative Templates

Navigate to Microsoft Edge

Double-click the Clear browsing data when Microsoft Edge closes policy setting

To turn the policy on or off for a profile:

Open Microsoft Edge

Click the Settings and more menu icon

Click Settings

Click Privacy and services

Click Choose what to clear every time you close the browser

Turn the policy on or off for the desired data

The data that can be cleared includes:

Browsing history

Download history

Cookies and other site data

Cached images and files

Passwords

Autofill form data

Site permissions

Hosted app data

Unfortunately they seem to focus more on what NOT to clear rather than being able to specify what to clear... but also, found this (I know it's chrome) does Edge have a similar GPO?:

"Figured this out eventually. There is a policy in the Chrome Admx template called ‘Limit cookies from matching URLs to the current session’. I specified the sites I would like Chrome to delete cookies from and now I can see this has applied to my browser!"
