Playing Audio Over Network

Hi All,

 

Had a few issues with this but thought I would try here to see if anyone else has come across it!

 

Quite a few times, when an audio file is being played through VLC player, it will either glitch out, or just stop playing and then play again in about a minute or two, and then stop playing again.

 

We tried increasing the network caching on VLC player itself, but this doesn't seem to have improved performance.

 

Does anyone know what we could try to get audio files working?

What are the results of running iperf3 between the 2 computers?

I have never used iperf3 or heard of it, so I haven't used it in this instance.

Our files are stored on their own server. Users have a mapped drive that goes to a folder on this server which has all of their resources in it. So I have had a teacher of music say that when he logs into his account and then goes to this mapped drive to find his audio resources, they all glitch or stop working.

I'm sure you've done this, but in the first instance - what happens if you copy the files locally and play them? Do they play smoothly? It may not be the network but something more local.

Yeah locally doesn't seem to be an issue, it's mainly over our network.

Ping times to and from the workstation to the server that data's on seem ok?
