Windows 11 deployment in a Hybrid Environment

Hi All,

 

Hope we are all doing well.

 

With windows 10 EOL approaching next year am in the planning phase.

 

I will need guidance on how to deploy windows 11 on a azure hybrid environment. Currently everyone uses windows 10 apart from IT. we have some home users using windows 10. It is a hybrid environment.

How do I go about deploying windows 11 seamlessly.

How do I go about creating an image for windows 11 in a hybrid environment?

How possible is it to upgrade a user windows 10 devices remotely?

 

Any suggestion is valuable

We're hybrid too

 

I did a load from W10 > W11 during the summer ( all on prem staff machines ). Was really easy, you can configure the setup.exe with /auto upgrade & /eula accept for it to run through with basically no interaction at all. Did this with MDT. Just make sure the ISO you are using is the same language & it will upgrade while keeping all apps/files etc.. I've had zero issues with the machines I upgraded, rather than a fresh install.

 

We're in the process of a laptop refresh so our remote devices will get done this way, however if you dont use intune/some other MDM i'm not sure how you would upgrade the remote devices. Do you control updates via group policy?

That is interesting. We use intune for updates but with regards to windows built, the lads having been doing this manually and I want to get something in place for windows 11 going forward and also doing the upgrades for devices owned already

I suppose you could set a "target feature edition" using an intune update policy, if you set it to " Windows 11 23H2 " your intune devices will eventually present the Windows 11 upgrade as a windows update
