I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this. Everymorning at 7:35 all of the printer objects within active directory disappear. I checked the event logs and it shows them as being deleted all at the same time by "system".

It's only started happening in the last few days. I thought it might be a kid running some script of vbs from their user areas so i'm doing a search. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Thanks

Phill

Printers are automatically removed from AD if the printer is no longer avalible. This could conceivably happen if the printer spooler service dies on your server (or is being restarted by a script). The major cause of the printer spooler service fatalities are buggy printer drivers.

I've got two servers that have print queues listed in AD. People can still print to the printers if they're installed on their machines and if you manually enter the path to that printer it can still be installed as a network printer, you just can't see them in AD or when you search for them. All i'm doing is unlisting them and re-listing them and they appear again, move them into the relevant OU's and every morning this week they've been deleted from AD at exactly the same time.

Have a look at the event logs anyway. If there's errors take a deeper look with Sonar.

I'd check for newer printer drivers on the net anyway, just to rule it out.
