[sims] Photo migration to Bromcom

Bromcom's documentation says: Check photos have come across for staff and students – anything over 200kb does not get migrated (SIMS/ RM schools only)

What's the easiest way to fix this?, many of our photos are much larger

https://www.salamandersoft.co.uk/free-utilities/sims-photo-exporter/ and a quick resize utility is probably easiest.

 

If you haven't migrated across already, you could then import them back into SIMs to go across automatically, else you'd need to do an import in Bromcom

How to import back to SIMS though?

There's a batch photo import routine, same as you'd use for the student photos

Ive used this before to batch edit photos resize them and/or rename them

I can export and resize the photos, that's easy, import is the problem, don't see import for staff, and student wants licence file

No being a SIMS user ever i cant help with that but if you have exported them its easy to import into BC it matches on Admission number or UPN or both - if the filenames came out of SIMS with that in.

Modules > admistration > manage photos

We keep all the staff photos imported into SIMs in HR so I went ahead and got a list of all the ones that were too big so I could check them after we got our test site from Bromcom. They were all correct, didn't need to change anything. What it did impact was uploading new ones as they force the file limit on those. So I think you can just see what happens because I didn't have to do any :-)

Just to say I also confirmed that the file sizes in SIMs were larger than 200 kb by using the Salamander tool to extract all the photos.
