Hi All, i had a Network paper done for us looking at our infrastructure and replacing our aged netgear equipment with new kit - we already have a large Ruckus Wifi (R610s,R650s mostly) so it made sense to use this brand of enterprise switches

It was a big peice of work looking at each cab and what is there and what is to be replaced. it took two onsite days and a few off site days to come up with the report.

I don't really want another company to waste theor time but i do want some cross checking on VFM so I would like some pricing on the following

ICX8200-C08ZP

ICX8200-C08PF

ICX8200-24P

ICX8200-24FX

ICX8200-48ZP2-E

ICX8200-48P

ICX8200-24ZP

if i just google and get pricing from websites my quote is substantially cheaper but i get that we get education supported pricing... even looking at this which seems to be some american public contract published price list i feel my prices ive been given are good

https://www.commscope.com/globalassets/digizuite/947366-ruckus-nc-its-price-list.pdf

Then a ball park on £ Engineering days that a comany would usually charge... I used to work for a network company but it was 20 years ago and it wasn't cheap then so what im getting quoated feels ok...

Don't just take pricing into consideration - warranty, servicing, parts etc need to come into play, especially for a player that isn't anywhere near as large as the likes of Aruba, Dell, Cisco etc or the availability of others - at least in the UK, I don't see Ruckus switching being as prevalent as Ubiquiti, FS, Extreme or Mikrotik. When something goes wrong, will you be able to get support in 4 hours, replacements the next day etc?

You probably should be getting 3 quotes anyway for a project of that size?

When the LA mandated an upgrade they used a third party consultancy for the installs and I could have done a better job myself so that was a total waste of £1000 a day in every school in the LA. *sigh*

(and then they say they got no money to buy a pack of peanuts)
