Meraki Switches and Smoothwall

I disabled the VLANs on the Smoothwall and the switches and APs all started working and responding to PING.

Disabled all the VLANs? Or just the port that the uplinked to the core switch?

We use the smoothwall to manage the VLANs and disabled the vlans on the Smoothwall the devices kicked into life however...l i went to try something on the meraki cloud dashboard on the uplink port and killed the main core switch so an early call out for me tomorrow to move a cable to the next port.

 

Serves me right for changing the port from a Trunk to an access on VLAN 1.

I think this "issue" might have been a schoolboy error combined with when the core switch (not meraki) got rebooted).

 

We have found across our sites that the S4 Smoothwalls are sensitive to VLANs and if you have port 1 and 2 on the smoothwall (port 1 being domain VLAN and port 2 hosting additional VLANs) plugged into the same switch - Smoothwall Port 1 > Switch Port 1 and Smoothwall port 2 > switch port 2 - if you don't "Not Member" port 2 from the main VLAN the smoothwall gets it's self in a right state so you have to make sure that any ports being used to host VLANs have to have the default VLAN excluded from those ports which connect link back tot the Smoothwall.

 

We have noticed this is not the case on S5 or S9 devices.

 

The non meraki switch (HP switch) in question must have not had it's config saved so when it was rebooted it restored back to an old config!
