Just an update for you all as to what is happening with our conference this year, especially as I said last year we'd be moving it back to its usual May slot for 2024.

Well, it turns out that life has a great way of getting in the way. For those of you that have seen me over the past couple of years, you'll have noticed that I have been walking around like a spinning top that is running out of energy due to my needing two new hips.

Last month I got some great news, and on Tuesday I'll be going under the knife to become a rubbish cosplay version of The Bionic Man with my first new hip being fitted.

Because of this, we are now going to be holding EDIT 2024 in October once more.

EDIT was held it at the Royal Armouries in Leeds last year, after our first choice, the National Railway Museum at York, couldn't host us due to the conference facilities being renovated.

We haven't decided on a location or venue yet (please feel free to give us some ideas below), but will be working on this once I'm a bit more mobile.

So don't worry, we shall be having a conf this year, it's just that I need to be able to walk in a straight line first!

As for places, I know a cracking owl sanctuary! But in seriousness if was north last time maybe back down south? Leeds was too far for me last time.

Bristol isn't exactly central

 

Birmingham, Northampton, Peterborough, Cambridge areas would be good central candidates. Also closer to me than Leeds was, so slightly biased on that!

Thanks everyone so the feedback far. Moving it a bit south is a good idea, how does the National Space Centre (which we ran with for a few years until they closed for refurb) in Leicester sound as a relatively central venue?

Leicester works for me and is pretty central. Also good if there's a relationship there with the space centre. To be fair, I made it the 200 miles to Leeds last time, so closer is a bonus.

The Space Centre has been one of the best places we've had for the venue being as helpful as possible (as well as being an awesome place to hold it at). Last year was a bit of a nightmare, and I spent twice the amount of time getting the venue to sort us out than I did with the actual organisation of the main event.

**UPDATE**

 

Sadly we can't use the Space Centre this year. Apparently the October half term is their busiest period (which is why we could use it on the May half term in previous years as it's actually quiet for them). We shall most likely be using them for May 2025 though.

I have just contacted a couple of other places that would provide an excellent venue for the conf and will keep you all in the loop once we hear back from them.

It's all very hush-hush
