TronXP Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Hi, Does anybody know a way that in gmail we can have the term STAFF or PUPIL appended to every addressee? Cheers
Sephiroth Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Do you use GCDS to sync Google from AD? if so, the way we do this is to set a custom attribute for the name field and set that to what we want (we use Staff Code for staff and Student ID for Students). This then is set to appear in the contact card as
TronXP Posted May 23, 2024 Author Posted May 23, 2024 Hi, We don't use GCDS, we are Google only. Does that show up also when sent externally then as your display name? Cheers
Sephiroth Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 (edited) I stand corrected... What we do is use a custom attribute to write the first name field, which is staff code for staff and - for students. That then is used to formulate the contact card. So Joe Smith as a staff member would appear as 'JSM Smith' jsmith[at]domain.com; or as a student would appear '000000-Joe Smith' 000000[at]domain.com I'm sure that we hide the name fields outside of our domain, but I can't find the setting to do it now. jthompson Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 I'd be interested to know how you include a custom attribute in the contact card, and for that to not be public. Where we have name matches, we append a tag in the display name (which might be something like "Jo Smith [Year 9]")so that it would appear in recipient suggestions to immedietely differentiate. Being able to not include those in the public profile would seem nice.
