Smoothwall default groups question

I've got a quick question (hopefully).

 

Our Smoothwall appliance has a set of groups and filter lists called 'Restricted-High' & 'Restricted-Moderate'. Are these default groups/lists and can I turn them off if they are?

 

They are a constant headache and I want to sort our filter lists out properly but these seem to do most of the filtering.

Those groups are not default groups built in to the Smoothwall so you can rename/delete them as you like but be sure to check the group mappings in the services - authentication - directories section. Renaming them to a more appropriate name and adjusting the category objects (Groups and custom) used by them will help clean the config up.

Thanks. I wasn't sure as I'd previously used Smoothwall in a previous School and don't recall groups called that. What threw me off with the current one is that 'Restricted-High' & 'Restricted-Moderate' have "System group" as the comment.

Could have been part of our template settings - in any case, any group you can delete in the services - authentication - groups section is just a normal group. The only ones that are built in are 'Banned users, Default users and Unauthenticated IPs.

 

Default users will be users where the Smoothwall knows the username but not the group. Unauthenticated will be where Smoothwall only has the IP.
