Any idea why this has happened ?

no, most likely hardware then, could be a cable failure, otherwise it's the display hardware failing to decode the gpu output properly

The computer has entered split screen or multi-screen mode. This could be caused by accidentally pressing a key combination or by graphics driver settings. Try pressing Windows key + P and selecting Single Screen mode to return to normal operation.
