Paxton Net2 move SQL

I'm really struggling with this as I just can't see a way to do it natively through the Net2 software...

 

We have Paxton Net2 installed on a server running SQL server 2012 which was installed a long time ago and needs to be uninstalled (obviously).

 

On the same server we have SQL 2016 which was put in for Veeam when that was installed.

 

What I can't seem to get my head around is getting the Paxton Net2 database to run in SQL 2016 instead of SQL 2012.

 

Even if I could work out a way to get the database moved (Studio or Net2 backup/import) I can't see anywhere in the software (Net2 Configuration Utility) that actually states where the database is currently or any way to point it somewhere else... You know like in Veeam there is the option to rename/alter where it looks for the database in the configuration options.

 

Should I be looking at it in more of a 'server move' way..?

 

Backup database > uninstall Net2 > reinstall Net2 (hopefully with a choice of SQL) > choose SQL 2016 > restore database...

Stating the damn obvious, but just call them and ask - they've always been really quick and efficient in sorting out most of the issues I've faced with it. I'm sure they would have a quick answer, either way.

As above - probably best to call them.

 

Only other thought is:

 

Take a backup of current database and reinstall Net2 (might need to uninstall first), specify new database location and then once installed import the backup.

 

But I'd call first.

So, it appears they are very touchy about anyone installing Net2 and messing with the database... and they've said there is no option to specify SQL on install...

 

Now I'm wondering how I managed it then, as I have it running on a full SQL 2012 and not the SQL 2012 Express they are saying our version should be running on!

 

The only option they're giving me is to install an updated version of Net2 which will install SQL 2017 Express for me... Great, I was trying to reduce the amount of SQL versions on the server and consolidate it, not add more....

 

I'd previously asked if I could SA into it and limit memory use and they flatly refused (something about being worried that their IP would be stolen).
