DalekSec Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Annoying issue. Users are able to create share point sites... (we currently have 90 in which I'm about to cull down to around 15 hopefully). I turned off all the options for creating sites when i joined 2 years ago but occasionally i see a new site appearing. I followed this guide: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/manage-site-creation So unsure where they are creating these sites from! Any help would be appreciated!
Roberto Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Have you disabled the ability for people to create M365 groups, as this will also create a SPO site for the M365 group if its done in Teams? As per the box on that page: Disabling site creation for users does not remove their ability to create Microsoft 365 groups or resources, such as Microsoft Teams, which rely on a group. When a Microsoft 365 group is created, a SharePoint site is also created. To restrict creation of Microsoft 365 groups and the resources that rely on groups see Manage who can create Microsoft 365 Groups.
robintech Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Could it be groups they are creating https://admin.microsoft.com/adminportal/home#/groups should be one called Creators as that will create a SharePoint Site
DalekSec Posted March 11, 2024 Author Posted March 11, 2024 Thank you, just found this guide: https://www.sharepointdiary.com/2019/07/disable-office-365-group-creation-using-powershell.html Annoyingly we don't have the right licensing for this.... so unsure if we are able to block it!
DalekSec Posted March 11, 2024 Author Posted March 11, 2024 Just found out was created via Outlook... So much be people wanting to setup an email address....
