Replacement DMD chip for Acer X1130 DLP Projector from 2010

Hi,

 

I'm having white spots appear all over the image. I hear this can be solved with a replacement DMD chip. The projector is ~15 years old at this point and it seems I can get a chip for at minimum ~£60

Does anyone more projector-savvy than me recommend trying to replace the part?

At that price point, it's worthless. You won't be able to buy a lamp for it from 2026, so it would be wise to invest in a new projector now if you wish to keep with the bulbs, and as it's a really old projector, you'll be able to get a far better spec second hand for half the cost on fleabay or facebay.
