Not sure when but we have this on our tenancy now in OWA, noticed there is no time limit on recalls and overall something feels dangerous to me about it.

From testing the message just disappears from your inbox when the sender recalls it, no end user notification I can see, the sender gets a report on who has read it and if the deletion was successful

It can disabled for the Organisation as a whole but time limit isn't settable

Is there a time limit past which you can’t recall a message?

No, there is no time limit, just like the classic message recall feature. Providing tenant admins the ability to customize a time limit for their organization is under consideration for a future update.

You can set an "if it's been read you can't recall it" organisation-wide.

That's what we've done to balance audit requirements vs accidentally including / sending the wrong thing.

Surely it will still be audited as having been sent, even if recalled? I would presume it would just be marked somehow as recalled.

Will turn that on now,

Set-OrganizationConfig -RecallReadMessagesEnabled $false

until I can figure out the balance, the times we would want it is probably a teacher sending to a student group by mistake so will check if there is a per mailbox feature for it. The main change for me is it being in the web outlook and people randomly deleting messages from a long time ago, don't think I've ever seen a student using Desktop Outlook or trying to recall a message.

Edit: have found MessageRecallProcessingEnabled per mailbox but no documentation I can see

Sent yes, and eDiscovery will show the recall. I just consider the recalling of read messages without some oversight to be rife for abuse.

If Sarah sends Bob something, then recalls it, there's no visibility to Bob that it happened. Not even a "Sarah recalled something".

If that email is something Bob relies upon to do his job, the lack of transparency (vs "Hey Bob, I sent you the wrong file, here's the right one") is a problem / cause for people to start doubting themselves.
