Smart LED Lights school network

Has anyone got any smart lights in use in a school? We are fitting out a calming / sensory room and these lights look ideal:

But not sure how well they will sit on the school network with the app etc? Planning to have a dedicated mounted ipad in there which could control them, and also be used for music etc so that wouldn't be an issue, but not sure if any issues with having these on the network? The apps usually aren't the best quality.

We use various smart devices, in particular smart plug sockets to be able to restart a couple of projectors which were intelligently installed with no isolator switch within human reach. You're right that the apps are rubbish so we set up Google Home with our IT department muggle test Gmail account (Google Home isn't available for Google Workspace for Education) and linked the apps into that. Works really well and we can reboot the projector and WIDI in our main hall from anywhere in the world!! The lights should work with that. You'll probably need to make sure that you have an SSID which has a 2.4GHz radio available on it as these devices tend not to run on 5GHz networks.

Look at Casambi devices. It uses Bluetooth and doesn't need a Gateway, although can if you want internet control. Avoids more traffic on 2.4ghz range, or 'Smart' devices not likely complex networks.

 

A number of manufacturers rebrand Casambi. Tridonic who make a lot of LED drivers call it 4Remote BT. Tamlite have it in there vision range. You can often tell but looking at the app on the product pages, it's clearly the casambi app with a skin on it.
