webby74 Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 A driver is stuck in a traffic jam on the motorway. Nothing has moved for half an hour when suddenly a man knocks on the window. The driver rolls down his window and asks, - 'What's going on?' 'Terrorists down the road have kidnapped Gordon Brown, Alistair Darling, David Miliband and Jack Straw. They're asking for a £10 million ransom or they're going to douse them with petrol and set them on fire. We're going from car to car, taking up a collecton.' The driver asks, 'How much is everyone giving, on average?' 'Most people are giving about a gallon.'
StewartKnight Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 a gallon.... that costs nearly £10million anyway!
srochford Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 The thing that always amuses me about petrol prices is that they're often quote as pounds per gallon "Petrol breaks £5 a gallon barrier" and such like. The UK went metric for fuel 30 years ago and I would guess that most drivers have never paid for fuel in gallons!
