Google Chrome browser sign-in, but not profile creation... possible?

Just starting our wonderful Google Workspace/Classroom journey of discovery...

 

I'd like to make the children log-in to the Chrome browser, however when I set this in the GPO it comes up with 'create a profile - person 1' and other unnecessary rubbish... unless I've set something wrong?

 

The browsers or machines are not managed in Google, so I can't apply any sort of settings on them through Google Admin.

 

Our children are struggling enough at the moment as it's a big change for them even having to 'log-on' to Google Classroom and the added effort of having to go through this step is going to have teachers banging at my door all day, everyday and I don't need that... also once logged onto the browser they are automatically signed in to all the other Google 'apps'.

 

So, I want to force them to sign-in to the browser for added protection (even though our filtering is good etc.), but not create a profile, just sign-in (and hopefully auto-sign out on browser close as they currently use class log-ins)... is something like that possible?

 

There may be only one issue where it will mean they have to sign in to their Google accounts in Chrome even for ad-hoc computer clubs just use the browser for a specific (non-Google) website.

Have you thought of an SSO layer to give you what you need? Just sign in once and hey presto - click the app they want and they are in?
