MFA Office365

Hi,

 

So I have been playing with MFA and I can enable this on users accounts however I want to use conditional access so the staff don't get a prompt when inside school. I have logged it with Microsoft but we cant get it working or Microsoft. I think we may need an additional license. We have Office 365 A1 Plus for faculty.

You will also need the P1 license to be able to utilise conditional access.

Thanks for the quick reply. So just to confirm that A1 Plus will work but we will require the P1 to enable conditional access?

A1 will grant you access to the online services, such as Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc. You'll also need Microsoft 365 Apps to be able to use the Office applications. P1 will then allow you to enable conditional access in your tenant, so you can enable MFA prompts and specify IP address(es) to exclude. I don't know if you only need to purchase one P1 license to allow conditional access, or if you need to buy for each user. If you can do the former, then I'd maybe suggest that.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread. I'm wanting to enable MFA also but in a similar boat, we're on the A1 plus for faculty licence at the moment. Did you find out if you need a P1 licence for each user, or can you just have a single P1 on an admin user?

You need a P1 licence for everyone that benefits from the feature. Technically one license would do the job, but that would be in violation of Microsoft's terms and conditions.

Just out of interest I tried to find out the numbers, looks like ratio of 1:15 faculty:students and a cost of (P1) £5.36 for faculty

but also P2 is only £8.33 which I didn't know
