Hi,

we have a mapped network drive to a server share. Within this share is a folder

I want to move to teams. They've tried copying manually but get issues e.g. with files / folders

open / in use and path lengths. It's pretty big e.g. 40,000 files 20,000 folders, 70GB

I was thinking of using the "sharepoint migration tool". But initially I thought I would

"disconnect" everybody and make this folder read-only. Good idea ?

As the folder inherits permissions from the "root" share I guess I would need to "Disable inheritance"

then select "remove inherited permissions" ?

What about the tick box "replace all child object permission entries with inheritable..."?

It's been a long time since I've messed with share permissions :o

Also I was surprised that when you close e.g. an open word file on server (via shared folders - open files)

it doesn't close word on the client.

I was thinking of using a bit of powershell e.g.

Get-SmbOpenFile | where {$_.Path –like "FOLDER-PATH*"} | Close-SmbOpenFile -Force
