Location: Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, West Lancashire

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an IT Technician to join the Computer Science Department as a key member of the IT Technicians Team. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing and development of Technology Enhanced Learning initiatives, providing a proactive and core technical support service for the Department to maintain reliable and smooth operation and excellent availability of student computer laboratories, and support academic staff in lab-based teaching. Close working with Computer Science Department staff will be a key element of the role. You will be based at the Ormskirk campus but may be asked to work occasionally off site. You will be required to work flexibly. Duties and working patterns may vary according to service needs.

 

About You

 

As technology is advancing very quickly, you will have opportunity to work with the latest IT infrastructure as well as have opportunity to receive any required training. Whilst using your skills and knowledge, you will be working with students and staff to resolve technical issues and advise on how to use equipment more efficiently.

 

As IT Technician, you will:

• Have excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  
• Have previous experience in customer service and working with students.
  
• Display excellent communication and team-working skills.
  
• Be familiar with a range of IT software, networks, installation and configuration methods, and providing technical support of PC hardware.
  
• Have experience in creating user guides, guidance notes, FAQs.
