m0bov Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Hi all, I am about to switch us from A1 Plus to A3. Normally I do this a bit at a time, is there anything I should know?! Thanks.
Steve21 Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Hi all, I am about to switch us from A1 Plus to A3. Normally I do this a bit at a time, is there anything I should know?! Thanks. How are you doing it? If you mean campus agreement you’d need to go into chest agreements unless you have 1000+ staff Ensure you ask to keep access to KMS keys etc, as easier to still use them Lock down the A3 license to remove the tatt you don’t want students access (bookings etc) Steve
m0bov Posted June 15, 2023 Author Posted June 15, 2023 Yep, got a Chest agreement, I will turn off all the extras if I can, then release them as and when. Its really for the password self service and RMS on Sharepoint which I need to work out anyway. We have logged in and grabbed all the ISOs and keys already! I think we use Salamander to apply licenses and a bit of the auto apply in Azure but I need to check. Thanks.
m0bov Posted June 30, 2023 Author Posted June 30, 2023 Can I check. We use Shared device activation for Office. We currently have A1 plus and I can see Microsoft 365 apps for student and faculty, although no accounts are using. We have moved to A3 on Campus. Can we still use shared activation? Or do I need to get the M365 apps back as well?? Thanks!
Mr.Ben Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 You can use Shared device activation, but if you are on the Chest agreement you can move to the easier to manage Device based activation. You have to ask for this to be added to your licences, but it's free. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/device-based-licensing. This has a couple of benefits: Non EQUs can then use the device on the odd occasion that the need it. Where you haven't used Shared Device activation, this doesn't count towards the 5 activations per user. Worth having a chat with your CHEST supplier if you don't have it.
Disease Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Our supplier is offering us a move from our current OVS agreement to an EES agreement is it worth it and what is the real difference? 1
Mr.Ben Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 It is worth it - mainly on pricing. In addition you also get: Device based Activation option Minecraft licences The first one is great benefit.
timbo343 Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 This is what you get in your A3 license https://m365maps.com/files/Microsoft-365-Education-A3.htm 1
