steveg Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Looking to get a new laptop for my dad. Mainly uses it for office type tasks, sketchup, web browsing and some light gaming - minecraft and maybe a few other older games. Max budget is £600. At the moment I'm looking at this https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/hp-victus-15-fb0002na-amd-ryzen-5-8gb-512gb-rx-3050-144hz-fhd-15.6inch-wind-6p0w4ea/version.asp It looks to be the best value, I just need to confirm it can take another 8gb memory stick in the future, as this may be the only thing that lets it down. Any other suggestions within budget?
Omega_NL Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Looks to me like the best deal for under £600 without a sale price. Saw this MSI prestige for £650 with 3050Ti: https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Prestige-A12UD-036UK-Notebook-RTX3050Ti/dp/B09RPV72FX/ Might be a idea to wait for Black Friday this year if you can, or maybe look for something for £750 if you can find a way to claim the VAT back? 1
steveg Posted June 12, 2023 Author Posted June 12, 2023 Thanks. Don't think there are any legal ways I can claim the vat back :-)
HTCPCP Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 The ideal situation would be to try and find something with a better tier GPU, as the 3050 laptop GPU can be a bit under powered (as can the 3050ti too) and will come into problems with some games due to only having 4gb VRAM. That being said that seems like quite a good deal (as long as there is a spare SODIMM slot and they haven't soldered the RAM on!)
