Chat GPT plays The Sims (sort of)

Remember The Sims? Well Stanford created a small virtual world with 25 ChatGPT-powered "people". The simulation ran for 2 days and showed that AI-powered bots can interact in a very human-like way.

I had ChatGPT play Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego, by relaying to it all the clues that I was given at each stage of the game and then presenting the list of available destinations from each location. Unsurprisingly, it was very good at the game, although it kept erroneously trying to include information given at previous locations to predict the next destination. This was mostly solved by adding "by using only information from the last 3 clues given...". It was concerned that I was tracking a dangerous criminal by myself, and encouraged me to liaise with local law enforcement. It was also a little confused by the outdated information in the game; a lot has changed since 1985!
