Gongalong Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Hi folks, We are trying out ChatGPT but have been stymied by the limit of requests from a single IP address. OpenAI publish the rate limits for an account, but I can't spot a published limit from an IP address (and they may well be keeping that secret). Does anyone know of a published limit? I can't see that we have any workaround as we aren't going to install another internet connection! Thanks
ZeroHour Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 I asked ChatGPT itself and it said: As an AI language model, ChatGPT does not enforce rate limits on IP addresses. However, the platforms or applications that integrate ChatGPT may have their own rate limits that apply to API requests. It may be worth contacting them as they can increase the limits for the general API but not ChatGPT but they may be able to do something given you are an educational institute: https://help.openai.com/en/ 2
Gongalong Posted April 20, 2023 Author Posted April 20, 2023 I asked ChatGPT itself Heh, I did the same thing and got the same answer, but AFAIK this is students using the ChatGPT site, not through the API, so not sure why OpenAI are saying that. I will double check they are going to the main site though.
