Jawloms Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Hiya, My wife's laptop is running Windows 10 (won't do 11) and has Chrome and Edge installed. Often the laptop will run slow. If you have a look at Task Manager, iexplore has a very high CPU usage. Why?! Anyone know a way to stop it please? Googled, but really not finding much. Thank you Stuart
Dos_Box Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 A hidden add-on? I'm running W10 on my desktop still and just fired up IE only to have it drag my system down too. Support for IE ended last year and I'm wondering if the current version of W10 is just giving it a stiff ignoring. Did she startup/use IE, or is it just the process running in the background unbidden? Saying that, I've not used IE in years
Jawloms Posted April 12, 2023 Author Posted April 12, 2023 She doesn't ever fire up IE, it just appears to be a background process.
Dos_Box Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 I'd try uninstalling it, just to see if that fixes it. 1
ZeroHour Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 She doesnt happen to use an old version of Outlook? It used to use IE as the mail renderer if I recall but that was a while ago. I am sure there was a way to disable it as well in GP. Another thing, it may be worth doing a malwarebytes free scan just in case. 1
