DRIVE SHARING/MAPPING VIA GPO (GPP)

Really basic question, but just wondering if I am doing this the easiest way?

 

I have created a new shared folder on the server - SLT eyes only, permissions done and everything else all sorted (as they are all members of the SLT security group).... apart from mapping it to the users.

 

Complicating it slightly is the fact that 2 members of SLT are teaching (luckily in the same year group) and 1 is the Business Manager.

 

I created sub-OUs, moved the users in AD and added the GPO into each of them, I've done it this way and it works, but it's a bit of a long way round and I wondered if there is a better way.

We do it with one GPO at the root of all the staff OUs, with item-level targeting added to the mapped drive option in the GPO so that it only applies to members of the relevant security group.

We therefore have one GPO doing all of the different drive mappings.
