HP Z Series Intel Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC)

Hi there,

I have an issue with an HP Z series station whereby it keeps getting stuck in a repairing Windows 11 loop.

 

The system has:

1 x M.2 512GB SSD for Windows C:\ partition

2 x ​2 x HP 6TB Enterprise SATA 7200 HDDs [3DH90AA] in a mirrored RAID 1 configuration for data storage for D:\Data drive (just under 6tb of usable space).

 

 

I have exhausted most options now with regards the Windows 11 loop. What I have found is that deleting the partition and reinstalling the OS has not helped so I logged a ticket with HP based on the fact, Win 11 repair failed, CHSK + DISM plus several other CMD commands didn't help, removing Win 11 latest updates and firmware updates also didn't help and HP BIOS Health Check was not showing anything.

HP Support have suggested that it might be worth disconnecting the two SATA drives as it might be possible the drives are causing a problem.

I am finding that whenever I reinstall Windows 11 and then install the Intel RAID software, it says repairing RAID 1%. Not sure why it keeps repairing the RAID every time the OS is reinstalled as the RAID doesn't contain the OS.

 

My question is, does anyone know much about Intel Virtual RAIDs?

I am slightly concerned that if I disconnect the two SATA disks, it might bugger the RAID up? HP are suggesting that the alternative option is that they could replace the motherboard as they suspect that it might be faulty. But again, if the MB is replaced, surely the RAID will be destroyed, or would the two disks tell the replacement MB BIOS that they are in a RAID?

 

Would be really grateful for any tips on this as the DATA storage is big and the time to back it up will be quite significant.

The software we have to install on the system to access the RAID config is called Intel Virtual RAID on CPU. And the software description is as follows:

What kind of Z series? E.g Z400/600/800 are archaic and i wouldnt expect widows 11 support?
